Kate Risdale
Kate was born and still lives on the Risdale family farm in Wormington, which borders on the Vale of Evesham and the Cotswolds. The majority of the working arable/ dairy farm was sold five years ago, leaving a pocket of land and some barns for Kate and her younger sister Hannah.
Ten years ago, after completing an artistic blacksmithing course at Hereford College of Art, Kate returned to the farm and her barns to set up a studio and business creating metal sculptures of life size animals and human figures, selling in galleries and undertaking commissions countrywide.
Galleries have always been the lifeblood of her business, bringing the advantages of wide audiences and purpose made display space together to promote the artists work. On the down side, though, it rarely gives the artist and the buyer a chance to actually meet and discuss their work.
In a departure from the norm of gallery exhibitions, Kate was invited to exhibit at the Foire de Jersey, a three day show in May of this year, providing the chance to actually sell directly to the public and really interact with the buyer getting some essential feed back.
